Destiny® Mastercard® - Up to 3% Cashback Rewards

The Destiny® Mastercard® offers "up to 3% Cashback Rewards," though the higher rate is limited to specific purchases each year. It is designed for individuals with less-than-perfect credit, offering 3% cashback on eligible purchases in the categories of gas, groceries, restaurants, and mobile phone services.

Cashback Rewards Program

  • 3% Bonus Categories: You earn an extra 2% cashback (for a total of 3%) on the first $5,000 in eligible purchases each calendar year in these categories:
    • Restaurants: Includes cafes, bars, lounges, and fast-food.
    • Gas Stations: Must be merchants using a gas station category code.
    • Grocery Stores: Includes supermarkets, meat/seafood stores, bakeries, and convenience stores.
    • Mobile Phone Services: Includes prepaid and recurring mobile phone services.
  • 1% Base Rate: All other eligible net purchases earn 1% cashback.
  • Reward Exclusions: Certain purchases, such as specific warehouse clubs, online-only grocers, or delivery services, may be excluded based on merchant codes.
  • Reward Redemption: Rewards are automatically issued as a statement credit. They do not count toward your minimum payment due.

Fees and APR

  • Annual Fee: $175 for the first year, then reduces to $49 per year afterward.
  • Monthly Fee: $0 for the first year, then $12.50 per month ($150 annually).
  • Total Second-Year Fees: $199 ($49 annual fee + $150 monthly fees).
  • High APR: Variable Annual Percentage Rate of 35.9% on purchases.
  • Low Credit Limit: Initial credit limits are often low, commonly around $700. The annual fee is charged immediately, reducing available credit.

Pros for Credit Rebuilding

  • Unsecured Card: No cash security deposit is required to open the account.
  • Credit Reporting: Payment activity is reported to all three major credit bureaus, helping you build or rebuild your credit.
  • Prequalification: You can prequalify for the Destiny® Mastercard® - Up to 3% Cashback Rewards without a hard inquiry, which helps check eligibility before applying.

FICO® Credit Scores

A FICO® Score is a proprietary credit score created by the Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO). About 90% of top U.S. lenders use it to make lending decisions.

FICO® Score Ranges:

  • Exceptional: 800–850
  • Very Good: 740–799
  • Good: 670–739
  • Fair: 580–669
  • Poor: 300–579

FICO categorizes scores as Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, and Exceptional.

What is a Credit Score?

A credit score is a three-digit number (300–850) predicting your creditworthiness. Lenders use it to evaluate risk and determine rates and terms for credit.

Why it matters: A higher score can help you qualify for loans and lower interest rates. A lower score can lead to higher borrowing costs or application denials.

FICO® Credit Score Facts

Key Characteristics:
  • Three-Digit Number: Summarizes your credit risk.
  • Range: 300–850; higher scores = lower risk.
  • Data Source: Uses your credit reports from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.
  • Industry Standard: Lenders rely on FICO for mortgages, auto loans, and credit cards.

Note: Credit scores reflect your creditworthiness but do not guarantee approval for any credit product.
