Application process

The application is conducted online through the opensky® website and is streamlined to be accessible to those with poor or no credit.

1. Online application: You will provide basic personal and financial information on the opensky® website, including your name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number.
2. No credit check: Because this is a secured card, opensky® does not perform a credit check during the application process, making approval highly accessible.
3. Deposit funds: After your application is approved, you will need to fund your security deposit. The minimum deposit for this card is $300 up to $3000, and this will become your credit limit. Deposits can be made via a debit card during the application or at a later date via check, money order, or Western Union.
4. Receive your card: After your deposit is processed, your card will be mailed to you and should arrive within 12 to 14 business days.

Key features of the opensky® Plus Secured Visa® Credit Card

1. No annual fee: This is a major advantage over other opensky® cards, which have annual or monthly fees.
2. No credit check: The card does not perform a credit check during the application process. This makes approval highly accessible for those with bad or no credit history.
3. Security deposit: Like all secured cards, your credit limit is tied to the amount of your refundable security deposit. The minimum deposit for this card is $300 up to $3000.
4. Builds credit history: opensky® reports your payment activity to all three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) every month.
5. Free FICO® score: You can track your progress by viewing your FICO® score for free through the opensky® mobile app.
6. Path to unsecured: With responsible use, you may be automatically reviewed for a credit limit increase or potentially upgraded to an unsecured credit card.

FICO Credit Scores

A credit score is a number generally between 300-850, based on a statistical analysis of a person's credit files. This score represents the credit worthiness of a person. A credit score is assigned to each individual, to rate how risky a borrower he or she is--the higher the score, the less risk the individual poses to creditors. In most cases, your credit score will determine whether you will be approved for a credit card.

Credit Score Facts

  1. Credit Scores range from 300-850, the higher the better.
  2. Most lenders base approval on your credit score.
  3. Higher Scores mean lower payments and better deals.
  4. Higher Scores mean Lower interest rates.
  5. Scores are determined by 5 main categories:
    • Payment History
    • Amounts Owed
    • Length of Credit History
    • Type of Credit Used
    • New Credit

Note: Credit scores are used to represent the creditworthiness of a person and may be one indicator to the credit type you are eligible for. However, credit score alone does not guarantee or imply approval for any credit card product.
