How Do American Express Platinum Card® Statement Credits Work?

Statement credits can reduce the amount you owe on your Card after you make qualifying purchases or pay for qualifying services. The Platinum Card® includes statement credits in several categories, and each benefit has its own requirements.

Some benefits require enrollment before you can receive the statement credit. Other benefits require you to use the Platinum Card® for qualifying purchases, memberships or bookings.

Because the benefits have different schedules and requirements, the amount of value you receive depends on which benefits you are able to use.

American Express Platinum Card® Uber Credits

The Platinum Card® offers up to $200 in Uber Cash each year. You can receive $15 in Uber Cash each month plus a bonus $20 in December when you add your Platinum Card® to your Uber account to use on rides and orders in the U.S. when you select an Amex Card for your transaction.

Plus, when you use the Platinum Card® to pay for an auto-renewing Uber One membership, you can get up to $120 in statement credits each calendar year. Terms apply.

American Express Platinum Card® Digital Entertainment Credit

The Platinum Card® offers up to $300 in statement credits each calendar year for eligible digital entertainment purchases. You can receive up to $25 in statement credits each month when you use your Platinum Card® for eligible purchases on Disney+, a Disney+ bundle, ESPN streaming services, Hulu, The New York Times, Paramount+, Peacock, The Wall Street Journal, YouTube Premium and YouTube TV when you purchase directly from one or more of the providers.

Enrollment required.

American Express Platinum Card® Hotel Credit

The Platinum Card® offers up to $600 in statement credits each calendar year for prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts® or The Hotel Collection bookings through American Express Travel® using the Platinum Card®.

You can receive up to $300 in statement credits semi-annually. The Hotel Collection requires a minimum two-night stay.

American Express Platinum Card® Resy Credit

The Platinum Card® offers up to $400 in statement credits each calendar year for eligible purchases with Resy. You can receive up to $100 in statement credits each quarter when you use the Platinum Card® to pay for eligible purchases with Resy, including dining purchases at over 10,000 qualifying U.S. Resy restaurants.

Enrollment required.

As a Platinum Card® Member, you also have special access to reservations on select nights at participating sought after Resy restaurants in select cities through Platinum Nights™ by Resy. Simply add your Platinum Card® to your Resy profile to book your reservation.

American Express Platinum Card® CLEAR+ Credit

The Platinum Card® offers up to $219 in statement credits per calendar year toward the cost of a CLEAR+ Membership after you pay for CLEAR+ with your Platinum Card®.

CLEAR+ helps get you to your gate faster by using your face to verify you are you at 55+ airports nationwide. The credit excludes any applicable taxes and fees and is subject to auto-renewal.

American Express Platinum Card® Airline Fee Credit

The Platinum Card® offers up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year when you select one qualifying airline and incidental fees, such as checked bags and in-flight refreshments, are charged by the airline to the Platinum Card® Account.

American Express relies on airlines to submit the correct information on airline transactions to identify incidental fee purchases. If you do not see a credit for a qualifying incidental purchase on your eligible Card after 8 weeks, simply call the number on the back of your Card.

Qualifying airlines are subject to change. See terms & conditions for more details.

American Express Platinum Card® lululemon Credit

The Platinum Card® offers up to $300 in statement credits each calendar year for eligible purchases at U.S. lululemon retail stores, excluding outlets, and lululemon.com.

You can receive up to $75 in statement credits each quarter. Enrollment required.

American Express Platinum Card® Walmart+ Credit

The Platinum Card® offers up to $155 in statement credits each calendar year toward a monthly Walmart+ membership.

You can receive up to a $12.95 statement credit each month after you pay for a monthly Walmart+ membership, subject to auto-renewal, with your Platinum Card®. Up to $12.95 plus applicable taxes on one membership fee.

American Express Platinum Card® Fine Hotels + Resorts® Benefits

When you book Fine Hotels + Resorts® through American Express Travel®, you can enjoy noon check-in, when available, and guaranteed 4PM late check-out.

Can Platinum Card® Statement Credits Offset the Annual Fee?

The Platinum Card® has an $895 annual fee. The Card's statement credits provide opportunities to receive value from eligible purchases, memberships and bookings throughout the year.

The amount of value you receive depends on which benefits you are able to use and whether your purchases or memberships meet the applicable requirements.

American Express Platinum Card® Statement Credits: Final Thoughts

The American Express Platinum Card® includes statement credits for Uber, digital entertainment, hotel bookings, Resy, CLEAR+, qualifying airline fees, lululemon and Walmart+.

Some benefits require enrollment, while others have specific purchase, membership or booking requirements. The timing and amount of each credit also varies by benefit.

FICO® Credit Scores

A FICO® Score is a proprietary credit score created by the Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO). About 90% of top U.S. lenders use it to make lending decisions.

FICO® Score Ranges:

  • Exceptional: 800–850
  • Very Good: 740–799
  • Good: 670–739
  • Fair: 580–669
  • Poor: 300–579

FICO categorizes scores as Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, and Exceptional.

What is a Credit Score?

A credit score is a three-digit number (300–850) predicting your creditworthiness. Lenders use it to evaluate risk and determine rates and terms for credit.

Why it matters: A higher score can help you qualify for loans and lower interest rates. A lower score can lead to higher borrowing costs or application denials.

FICO® Credit Score Facts

Key Characteristics:
  • Three-Digit Number: Summarizes your credit risk.
  • Range: 300–850; higher scores = lower risk.
  • Data Source: Uses your credit reports from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.
  • Industry Standard: Lenders rely on FICO for mortgages, auto loans, and credit cards.

Note: Credit scores reflect your creditworthiness but do not guarantee approval for any credit product.
