The American Express Platinum Card® is designed for people who travel regularly and includes a broad range of travel-related benefits. These include Membership Rewards® earning on eligible travel purchases, hotel benefits, airline benefits, access to American Express Travel® and other premium travel features.
The value of these benefits depends on how often you travel and which features you actually use. Frequent travelers may be able to get considerably more value from the Card's travel benefits than someone who rarely travels.
For an overview of the Card's complete benefits package, see our guide to American Express Platinum Card® Benefits.

The Platinum Card® earns Membership Rewards points on eligible travel purchases, with its rewards structure placing a strong emphasis on flights and prepaid hotel bookings.
Card Members can earn 5X Membership Rewards points on flights purchased directly from airlines or through American Express Travel®, subject to the applicable purchase limit.
The Card also earns 5X Membership Rewards points on prepaid hotel bookings through American Express Travel, including eligible Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection bookings.
The Platinum Card® provides access to American Express Travel, where eligible Card Members can book flights, hotels and other travel.
Certain bookings made through American Express Travel can qualify for enhanced Membership Rewards earning or additional Platinum Card® benefits, depending on the type of reservation and applicable terms.
The Platinum Card® includes hotel-related benefits that can provide additional value when eligible Card Members book qualifying stays.
These benefits can include statement credits on qualifying prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection bookings through American Express Travel. Eligible Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings can also provide additional benefits such as noon check-in when available and guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout.
The Platinum Card® also provides benefits for eligible airline purchases. In addition to earning Membership Rewards points on qualifying flights, Card Members can receive up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year for qualifying incidental airline fees after selecting a qualifying airline.
Qualifying purchases and airlines are subject to the applicable terms, and the airline associated with the benefit may be subject to change.
Airport lounge access is another major travel feature of the Platinum Card®. Eligible Card Members can access the American Express Global Lounge Collection®, which includes Centurion Lounges, eligible Delta Sky Club visits, Priority Pass™ membership and other select partner lounges.
The approved American Express information states that the Global Lounge Collection includes more than 1,550 airport lounges.
Because lounge access is a significant benefit in its own right, we cover it separately in our American Express Platinum Card® Airport Lounge Access guide.
The Platinum Card® also includes other travel-related services and benefits that can add value to eligible Card Members. These can include premium hotel experiences, travel services and additional features available through American Express Travel.
The specific terms, availability and requirements for individual travel benefits can vary, so it is important to review the applicable terms before relying on a particular benefit.
The Platinum Card® may be particularly useful for frequent travelers who can regularly use several of its travel features.
Someone who frequently purchases flights, stays at eligible hotels or uses airport lounges may receive considerably more value from these benefits than someone who travels only occasionally.
The best way to evaluate the travel benefits is to consider how they fit your normal travel habits rather than simply adding up the maximum potential value of every available feature.
The Platinum Card® has an $895 annual fee. The Card's travel benefits can help offset some of that cost, but the actual value depends on which benefits you would naturally use.
For a more detailed look at the annual fee and how to evaluate the Card's overall value, see our American Express Platinum Card® Annual Fee and Value guide.
The American Express Platinum Card® provides a broad collection of travel benefits, including Membership Rewards earning on eligible travel purchases, American Express Travel access, hotel and airline benefits and airport lounge access.
These features can be particularly valuable for people who travel frequently and can make regular use of several of the Card's benefits.
The Platinum Card® is a premium travel card, so its value ultimately depends on whether its travel benefits fit the way you actually travel and spend.

A FICO® Score is a proprietary credit score created by the Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO). About 90% of top U.S. lenders use it to make lending decisions.
FICO® Score Ranges:
FICO categorizes scores as Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, and Exceptional.
A credit score is a three-digit number (300–850) predicting your creditworthiness. Lenders use it to evaluate risk and determine rates and terms for credit.
Why it matters: A higher score can help you qualify for loans and lower interest rates. A lower score can lead to higher borrowing costs or application denials.
Note: Credit scores reflect your creditworthiness but do not guarantee approval for any credit product.
