The Blue Cash Preferred earns 6% cash back on eligible U.S. streaming subscriptions from select providers. American Express maintains the current list of qualifying streaming providers, and eligibility can depend on how the subscription is billed.
For that reason, a streaming service may not qualify simply because it is a subscription service. The purchase must meet the requirements for the Blue Cash Preferred streaming category.
The Blue Cash Preferred's 6% streaming category applies to eligible purchases from select U.S. streaming providers. American Express provides the current list of select providers through its rewards information.
Because American Express can update the list of qualifying providers, check the current American Express rewards information before assuming that a particular streaming subscription qualifies for the 6% rate.
Disney+ is included among the subscriptions eligible for the Blue Cash Preferred's separate Disney Streaming Credit when the applicable requirements are met. The Card can provide up to $10 back each month, for up to $120 in statement credits per calendar year, when an enrolled Card is used for qualifying purchases at DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com, or Stream.ESPN.com U.S. websites.
Enrollment is required for the Disney Streaming Credit, and the subscription must meet the applicable American Express terms.
Hulu is also included in the Blue Cash Preferred Disney Streaming Credit. After enrollment, eligible subscription purchases made at Hulu.com U.S. websites can qualify for up to $10 in statement credits per calendar month, subject to the benefit terms.
Eligible subscriptions purchased at Stream.ESPN.com U.S. websites can qualify for the Blue Cash Preferred Disney Streaming Credit after enrollment. The benefit provides up to $10 in statement credits per month, subject to the applicable terms.
These are two separate Blue Cash Preferred benefits. The 6% cash back benefit applies to eligible U.S. streaming subscriptions from select providers. The Disney Streaming Credit can provide up to $10 in statement credits each month for qualifying Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN subscriptions after enrollment.
The two benefits should not be treated as though they are the same reward. The streaming cash back is earned as Reward Dollars, while the Disney Streaming Credit is provided as a statement credit when the applicable requirements are satisfied.
Some bundled streaming subscriptions may qualify, but the way the subscription is billed matters. American Express states that a subscription bundled with another product or service, or billed by a third party such as a digital platform, cable provider, telecommunications provider, or internet provider, may not qualify for the 6% streaming reward.
If you want to receive the higher streaming reward, check how the subscription is billed before assuming that it will qualify.
Not necessarily. American Express bases rewards eligibility on the purchase and how the merchant submits the transaction. A streaming subscription billed through a third party may not receive the 6% streaming reward.
For the separate Disney Streaming Credit, American Express specifically requires qualifying purchases at DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com, or Stream.ESPN.com U.S. websites, subject to the benefit terms.
The Blue Cash Preferred offers 6% cash back on eligible U.S. streaming subscriptions from select providers. The Card also offers a separate Disney Streaming Credit worth up to $10 per month when enrolled Card Members make qualifying purchases from Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN through the specified U.S. websites.
Because American Express maintains the current list of select streaming providers and eligibility can depend on how a subscription is billed, it's important to check the current terms before assuming that a particular service will receive the 6% cash back rate.

A FICO® Score is a proprietary credit score created by the Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO). About 90% of top U.S. lenders use it to make lending decisions.
FICO® Score Ranges:
FICO categorizes scores as Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, and Exceptional.
A credit score is a three-digit number (300–850) predicting your creditworthiness. Lenders use it to evaluate risk and determine rates and terms for credit.
Why it matters: A higher score can help you qualify for loans and lower interest rates. A lower score can lead to higher borrowing costs or application denials.
Note: Credit scores reflect your creditworthiness but do not guarantee approval for any credit product.
