The Boost Platinum Card is a $750 merchandise credit line for people with no credit or damaged credit, but it is very different from a traditional credit card. The Boost Platinum credit line can only be used to purchase merchandise through TheHorizonOutlet.com, and it is not a Visa, Mastercard, or debit card. The current program does not charge an annual or monthly membership fee or interest, does not require a credit-bureau check, and does not report the account to the credit bureaus. For someone who cannot qualify for a traditional credit card but needs a way to make a purchase and pay for it over time, that can make Boost Platinum useful. The tradeoff is that the $750 credit line can only be used at one online store.

Despite the name, Boost Platinum is not a traditional credit card that you can take into a store or use anywhere online. The current Boost Platinum agreement describes it as a line of credit that can be used exclusively at TheHorizonOutlet.com. It is not a Visa, Mastercard, or debit card.
That distinction is extremely important because someone searching for a credit card may assume that a $750 credit line means they will have $750 available to spend wherever they want. That is not what Boost Platinum provides.
Instead, the credit line is designed specifically for purchases from Horizon Outlet. You can select merchandise from the online store and use the Boost Platinum credit line to finance the purchase rather than paying the entire merchandise cost in cash at the time of the order.
The current Boost Platinum offer provides a $750 merchandise credit line. There is no down payment requirement for purchases made through Horizon Outlet, so the credit line can be used to make an eligible purchase without paying the entire merchandise price up front.
You then receive a monthly bill and are required to make at least the minimum payment shown on your statement. The current agreement states that the minimum monthly payment is $25 or the entire balance if it is less than $25. You can also pay the entire balance at any time.
This makes Boost Platinum somewhat similar to a buy-now-pay-later arrangement in the sense that you can obtain merchandise now and pay for it over time. The major difference is that the purchasing power is tied to a specific online store rather than being available at thousands of retailers.
This is probably the most important question to ask about Boost Platinum. If you already qualify for a traditional credit card with a reasonable credit limit, there is little reason to choose a credit line that can only be used at one online store.
But not everyone is in that position.
Someone with damaged credit, no established credit history, or a recent history of credit problems may have difficulty getting approved for a traditional unsecured credit card. Boost Platinum is designed for people in that situation because the current agreement says there is no credit-bureau check and no employment requirement.
That can create a useful option for someone who needs to make a purchase but does not currently have enough cash available to pay for the entire purchase at once.
For example, imagine that a birthday or Christmas is approaching and you need to purchase a gift for someone in your family. You may not have enough money available in your checking account to pay for the gift today, and you may not qualify for a conventional credit card. If the merchandise you want is available through Horizon Outlet, a $750 merchandise credit line could give you another way to make that purchase and pay the balance over time.
That does not mean using credit for a gift is always a good financial decision. You still have to repay what you borrow. But it explains why a restricted merchandise credit line can have value even though it cannot be used like a normal credit card.
One of the biggest differences between Boost Platinum and a traditional credit card is the application process. The current Boost Platinum agreement says there are no credit-bureau checks and no employment requirement. It also says there are no restrictions based on a past bankruptcy history.
The current agreement does not mean that every applicant is automatically guaranteed an account under every circumstance. Horizon says it may be unable to open an account if it cannot verify the applicant's identity or if the applicant does not meet its ability-to-pay requirements, and it reserves the right to reject an application.
The current offer page, meanwhile, advertises approval for applicants who are at least 18 years old and have at least $150 per month remaining after bills are paid. The current agreement should be reviewed before applying because eligibility terms can change.
This is one of the biggest disadvantages of Boost Platinum if your goal is to improve your credit score.
The current agreement specifically states that Horizon Card Services does not report the account to any credit bureau. That means making your Boost Platinum payments on time will not create the type of positive payment history that a credit card that reports to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion can create.
So Boost Platinum should not be viewed as a credit-building card simply because it gives you a $750 credit line. If your primary goal is rebuilding your credit history, you should look for a product that actually reports your account activity to the credit bureaus.
The current Boost Platinum agreement is considerably different from some of the older information you may find online.
The current pricing summary lists a $0 annual membership fee, $0 monthly membership fee, and $0 account activation fee. It also lists no interest rate or APR.
This is important because some older Boost Platinum reviews describe monthly fees that are no longer part of the current agreement. Older customer reviews and articles can therefore give you an inaccurate picture of what Boost Platinum costs today.
The current terms are the information I would use when evaluating the product, rather than assuming that fees mentioned in an older review still apply.
The restriction on where you can use the credit line is both the most important limitation of Boost Platinum and the main reason some people will decide that it is not for them.
You cannot use the Boost Platinum credit line at Walmart, Amazon, a grocery store, a restaurant, a gas station, or another retailer. You cannot use it to pay a utility bill or cover an unexpected expense. The credit line is specifically for eligible purchases through TheHorizonOutlet.com.
That means you should look at the Horizon Outlet merchandise before deciding whether the $750 credit line is useful to you. If you cannot find something you actually want or need to purchase, having a $750 merchandise credit line does not provide much practical value.
Horizon Outlet currently offers a variety of merchandise, including clothing, toys, home goods, electronics, appliances, and other products. The selection changes, so you should look at the current store rather than relying on an old review describing what was available several years ago.
This is another area where Boost Platinum is different from a conventional credit card. With a normal credit card, the value of the credit line comes from being able to shop almost anywhere. With Boost Platinum, the value depends heavily on whether Horizon Outlet has something you actually want at a price you are willing to pay.
There is another important limitation that is easy to overlook when looking at the $750 credit line.
The Boost Platinum credit line cannot be used to pay the shipping charges on Horizon Outlet purchases. The current agreement requires you to use a valid and active U.S. credit card or debit card to pay shipping before your merchandise is shipped.
The agreement also says that shipping fees are non-refundable.
This means Boost Platinum does not completely eliminate the need to have access to another payment method. You may be able to finance the merchandise purchase through the Boost credit line, but you still need an active U.S. credit or debit card to handle the shipping charge.
Customer feedback about Horizon Outlet is mixed, and some of the complaints are directly related to the limitations of the merchandise credit line.
Some customers have complained that they expected a conventional credit card and were disappointed when they discovered that the account could only be used at Horizon Outlet. Others have complained about the selection of merchandise, shipping costs, account access, or difficulty canceling an account.
There are also positive customer comments. Some people report that the application and approval process was easy and that they were able to use the account for purchases. Reviews on SuperMoney include customers who viewed the $750 line and easy approval as useful, although other reviewers specifically identified the Horizon Outlet restriction as a drawback.
These reviews should be viewed in context because some of the older complaints concern earlier versions of the Horizon products that had different fees and terms than the current Boost Platinum agreement.
If you research Boost Platinum, you may find some very negative information about Horizon Card Services that goes back several years. Some of that information is important historical background, but it should not automatically be treated as a description of the current Boost Platinum product.
In September 2024, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau filed a lawsuit against Reliant Holdings, doing business as Horizon Card Services, and its owner. The CFPB's complaint alleged that the company marketed its earlier Horizon products in ways that could make consumers believe they were obtaining a general-purpose credit card even though the credit line could only be used at Horizon Outlet, and the complaint also addressed substantial fees associated with those earlier products.
However, the CFPB voluntarily dismissed that lawsuit with prejudice on April 23, 2025. The current Boost Platinum agreement also shows a substantially different fee structure, with no annual, monthly, or activation fee.
For that reason, I think it is important to distinguish historical complaints about older Horizon products from the terms of the Boost Platinum account being offered today.
Potential advantages:
Important disadvantages:
Boost Platinum is one of several $750 merchandise credit accounts available through TheHorizonOutlet.com. If you are comparing these options, see our Horizon Outlet card comparison for information about the other available credit accounts.
For most people who qualify for a traditional credit card, I would rather have a general-purpose credit card that can be used anywhere. A $750 credit line that is restricted to one online store simply does not provide the same flexibility.
But that does not mean Boost Platinum has no value.
If you have damaged credit or no established credit history, cannot qualify for a traditional credit card, and need to make a purchase that is available through Horizon Outlet, the Boost Platinum credit line may solve a specific problem. You can obtain purchasing power without a traditional credit-bureau check, there is currently no annual or monthly membership fee, and the merchandise balance can be paid over time.
The key is understanding exactly what you are getting. Boost Platinum is not a conventional credit card and it is not a way to build your credit score. It is a restricted merchandise credit line that may be useful when you need to purchase something from Horizon Outlet but do not have enough cash available to pay for it all at once.
If that describes your situation, Boost Platinum may be worth considering. If you need a credit card that you can use anywhere or want an account that reports your payment history to the credit bureaus, you should look elsewhere.

A FICO® Score is a proprietary credit score created by the Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO). About 90% of top U.S. lenders use it to make lending decisions.
FICO® Score Ranges:
FICO categorizes scores as Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, and Exceptional.
A credit score is a three-digit number (300–850) predicting your creditworthiness. Lenders use it to evaluate risk and determine rates and terms for credit.
Why it matters: A higher score can help you qualify for loans and lower interest rates. A lower score can lead to higher borrowing costs or application denials.
Note: Credit scores reflect your creditworthiness but do not guarantee approval for any credit product.
