How Do I Apply for the FIT Mastercard?

If you want to apply for the FIT™ Platinum Mastercard®, you can complete the application online by providing the requested personal and financial information and submitting it for a credit decision. The FIT Mastercard does not use a prequalification step before the application, so when you submit the online form, you are applying for the actual credit card rather than simply checking whether you may qualify. The application asks for information including your name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, monthly income, housing expense, and other monthly expenses. If you are approved, you will then need to pay the $95 one-time processing fee to open the account. The FIT Mastercard has a $400 initial credit limit, although the current account-opening disclosure states that fees assessed before you begin using the card can reduce your initial available credit.

How Does the FIT Mastercard Application Process Work?

The FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® online application follows a straightforward process. You start by completing the application, provide personal and financial information, authorize the issuer to review your credit information, receive a decision, and, if approved, pay the required processing fee before the account is opened.

Unlike a credit card that allows you to check for a prequalified offer first, FIT does not have a separate prequalification step. The online form is the actual credit application, so you should be prepared to provide the information needed for the issuer to evaluate your application.

Step 1: Complete the FIT Mastercard Application

To begin, use the online application and provide the information requested. The application requires identifying information such as your name, address, date of birth, and Social Security number. You will also be asked for your email address, mobile phone number, and financial information needed to evaluate your application.

The financial section asks for your total monthly income, monthly housing expense, and total other monthly expenses. The application also asks whether you have a checking or savings account or a debit card. You may also indicate whether you would like an additional card.

The current FIT application also states that alimony, child support, or separate maintenance income does not have to be disclosed if you do not want it considered as a basis for repaying the obligation.

Because FIT does not begin with a prequalification offer, completing this form is the actual credit application. The application states that by submitting it, you authorize The Bank of Missouri to obtain credit-bureau reports and verify employment history, along with using the information in connection with your application and any subsequent account review.

Where Is the FIT Mastercard Available?

The FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® is not available in every state or U.S. territory. The current online application states that the card is not available to residents of Washington, West Virginia, Colorado, Minnesota, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

If you live in one of those locations, the FIT application will not be available to you. If your state is not on the excluded list, you can continue through the online application to see whether you are approved.

Step 2: Receive a Credit Decision

After you submit the application, the issuer reviews the information and makes a credit decision. The FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® application requires authorization for the issuer to obtain credit-bureau information as part of this process.

The FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® application process can provide a decision quickly, although some applications may require additional information before a final decision can be made.

If your application is not approved, you will not move on to the account-opening portion of the process. If you are approved, you can proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Pay the $95 Processing Fee

If you are approved for the FIT™ Platinum Mastercard®, you must pay the $95 one-time processing fee to open the account. This is an important part of the FIT application process because approval by itself does not mean the account is immediately open and ready to use.

The current account-opening disclosure also explains that some setup and maintenance fees are assessed before you begin using the card. For example, with a $400 credit limit, the disclosure states that the initial available credit can be $301 after applicable fees are assessed.

Does FIT Credit Protection Have to Be Purchased?

No. The FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® application includes an optional Continental Credit Protection Program, but purchasing the program is not required to obtain the credit card. The application specifically states that choosing to purchase or decline the program will not affect the credit application or the terms of an existing account.

If you choose the optional program, the application states that the monthly charge is $1.39 for every $100 of your outstanding account balance as of the close of each billing cycle. The application also states that the program can be canceled at any time and that a full refund of charges is available when it is canceled within 30 days of purchase.

This is an optional product, so you can choose “No, I am not interested” when completing the FIT application if you do not want the credit protection program.

Are Paperless Statements and Text Messages Required?

The FIT application includes electronic communications, paperless billing, and text-message options, but these are not all required to obtain the account. The application specifically states that consent to paperless statements is not required for approval and that transactional text-message consent is not required to obtain an account from the issuing bank.

If you agree to electronic communications, you must maintain an active and valid email address and have a compatible device and software for viewing electronic documents. The electronic communications disclosure explains that communications may be delivered by email, through the online account or mobile application, or through other electronic notification methods.

You can also withdraw electronic-communications consent later through the online account or by contacting customer service, subject to the processing period described in the disclosure.

Step 4: Receive and Use Your FIT Mastercard

After the account has been opened, your FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® can be used wherever Mastercard is accepted. The card has a $400 initial credit limit, but the $99 annual fee is charged up front, which means your initial available credit is $301 after that fee is assessed. The FIT program information states that you can potentially double the $400 credit limit to $800 by making your first six monthly minimum payments.

The FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® also reports monthly payment activity to the three major credit bureaus, so making your payments on time can help you establish or rebuild your credit history over time.

What Information Should I Have Before Applying for the FIT Mastercard?

Because the FIT™ Platinum Mastercard® application is the actual credit application rather than a preliminary prequalification form, it helps to have the required information available before you begin. You should be prepared to provide your full name, home address, date of birth, Social Security number, email address, phone number, monthly income, monthly housing expense, and other monthly expenses.

You will also be asked about whether you have a checking or savings account or debit card and whether you want an additional card. The application requires an active email address for electronic communications and asks you to provide the information necessary for the issuer to evaluate your application.

Having this information available can make the online application easier to complete and helps you avoid stopping partway through the process to look for information.

How Do I Apply for the FIT Mastercard?

If you are ready to apply for the FIT™ Platinum Mastercard®, you can start the online application below. Remember that FIT does not use a prequalification step, so the online form is the actual credit application and authorizes the issuer to obtain your credit information. If you are approved, the $95 processing fee must be paid to open the account.

FICO® Credit Scores

A FICO® Score is a proprietary credit score created by the Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO). About 90% of top U.S. lenders use it to make lending decisions.

FICO® Score Ranges:

  • Exceptional: 800–850
  • Very Good: 740–799
  • Good: 670–739
  • Fair: 580–669
  • Poor: 300–579

FICO categorizes scores as Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, and Exceptional.

What is a Credit Score?

A credit score is a three-digit number (300–850) predicting your creditworthiness. Lenders use it to evaluate risk and determine rates and terms for credit.

Why it matters: A higher score can help you qualify for loans and lower interest rates. A lower score can lead to higher borrowing costs or application denials.

FICO® Credit Score Facts

Key Characteristics:
  • Three-Digit Number: Summarizes your credit risk.
  • Range: 300–850; higher scores = lower risk.
  • Data Source: Uses your credit reports from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.
  • Industry Standard: Lenders rely on FICO for mortgages, auto loans, and credit cards.

Note: Credit scores reflect your creditworthiness but do not guarantee approval for any credit product.
