Can You Pre-Qualify for the Old Navy Encore Mastercard?

Yes. You can check for a pre-qualified offer before deciding whether to complete an application for the Old Navy Encore Mastercard. Prequalification can give you an opportunity to review an offer before proceeding with a full credit-card application.

Prequalification does not guarantee approval. If you decide to apply, Barclays will make the final credit decision after reviewing your application and other information.

What Rewards Does the Old Navy Encore Mastercard Offer?

The Old Navy Encore Mastercard has a three-level rewards structure for cardmembers. You earn 25 points per $1 spent at Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, Athleta, Gap Factory and Banana Republic Factory when using the Encore Mastercard.

You also earn 15 points per $1 at other eligible retail apparel brands and 5 points per $1 everywhere else Mastercard is accepted. Eligible outside apparel purchases are determined by Mastercard merchant-category codes. Purchases at wholesale clubs, Amazon, Target and Walmart do not qualify for the higher apparel rate.

Old Navy's current Encore program values 500 points at $1 in rewards. That means the 25-point rate at Gap Inc. brands works out to an effective 5% reward, while 15 points per $1 at eligible outside apparel stores works out to 3%, and 5 points per $1 everywhere else works out to 1%.

What Can You Do With Encore Points?

Encore points can be redeemed for merchandise at Old Navy and other participating Gap Inc. brands or for rewards available through the Encore Market. Points cannot be used to make payments on the Encore credit-card account. Points also generally are not earned on portions of purchases paid with points, gift cards, store credit, certificates or vouchers, or on taxes, shipping and certain other excluded amounts.

What Are the Benefits of the Old Navy Encore Mastercard?

The Encore Mastercard automatically gives cardmembers All-Access status in the Encore membership program. That means cardmembers receive the Core and Premier benefits along with additional cardmember benefits.

Current benefits include access to the Encore Market, a birthday benefit, extended return privileges and enhanced shipping benefits. Cardmembers can also choose a sale day once per year with an additional discount when using an Encore Credit Card, subject to the program's terms and restrictions.

New cardmembers may also receive 30% off their first purchase when they open and use a new Encore Credit Card, subject to the applicable offer terms.

Can You Use the Old Navy Encore Mastercard Outside Old Navy?

Yes. The Encore Mastercard can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted. You can earn 15 points per $1 at eligible retail apparel brands outside the Gap Inc. family and 5 points per $1 on other purchases.

The card can therefore be used for more than Old Navy purchases. However, the highest rewards rate is reserved for purchases at Gap Inc. brands.

Who Issues the Old Navy Encore Mastercard?

The Old Navy Encore Mastercard is issued by Barclays Bank Delaware pursuant to a license from Mastercard International. Barclays also services the credit-card account and provides the online account-management system used by cardmembers.

Does the Old Navy Encore Mastercard Have an Annual Fee?

No annual fee is listed for the Encore Credit Card. However, an annual fee is only one part of the cost of a credit card. Before applying, review the current pricing and terms for the APR and other fees that may apply to your account.

What Is the APR on the Old Navy Encore Mastercard?

The purchase APR is determined by the current card offer and account terms. Because the interest rate can make a substantial difference when carrying a balance, review the current APR shown with your offer before applying.

If you pay your statement balance in full according to the applicable terms, you can generally avoid interest on purchases during the applicable grace period. Carrying a balance from month to month can make purchases considerably more expensive.

How Do You Apply for the Old Navy Encore Mastercard?

You can check for a pre-qualified offer before proceeding with the full application. If you receive an offer and decide to continue, review the complete terms before submitting your application.

Prequalification is not a guarantee of approval. Barclays makes the final lending decision based on the information available when you apply.

Can You Buy Gift Cards With the Old Navy Encore Mastercard?

Yes. Old Navy says Encore cardmembers can purchase gift cards in stores or online using the Encore Credit Card. Eligible physical gift-card purchases can earn points, although the rewards treatment differs for physical and electronic gift cards and points are not earned when a gift card is redeemed.

Can You Pay Your Credit Card Bill With Encore Points?

No. Encore points cannot be used to make payments toward the credit-card account. They can be used for eligible merchandise at participating Gap Inc. brands and for rewards through the Encore Market.

Is the Old Navy Encore Mastercard Worth Considering?

The Old Navy Encore Mastercard is primarily designed for people who shop regularly at Old Navy and the other Gap Inc. brands. The card's strongest feature is the 25 points per $1 reward rate at Gap Inc. brands, which is effectively 5% back based on the current 500-points-to-$1 redemption value.

The Mastercard version also extends rewards beyond the Gap Inc. family, offering 3% in effective rewards at eligible outside apparel retailers and 1% everywhere else Mastercard is accepted. That makes the card considerably more versatile than a card that can only be used at Old Navy.

As with any credit card, however, you should look at the complete terms rather than rewards alone. The APR, your spending habits and whether you regularly carry a balance can all affect the overall value of the account.

  • Very Good: 740–799

What is a Credit Score?

A credit score is a three-digit number (300–850) predicting your creditworthiness. Lenders use it to evaluate risk and determine rates and terms for credit.

Why it matters: A higher score can help you qualify for loans and lower interest rates. A lower score can lead to higher borrowing costs or application denials.
