Citi Costco Card Invitation Code Not Working? What to Do

If your invitation code for the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi isn't working, there are a few things you can check before giving up on the offer. The most common problems involve the code itself, the last name entered, an expired offer, or using a different website than the one provided with your mailing.

If you click on a link, when an application is approved, or when an account is opened, we may earn a commission. We are independently owned, and the opinions expressed here are our own.

Check Your Invitation Code Carefully

Start by comparing the code you entered with the code printed on your Citi offer. Invitation codes can contain both letters and numbers, so check carefully for characters that can be easily confused, such as the letter O and the number 0, or the letter I and the number 1.

If your mailing identifies the number as an invitation code or certificate number, make sure you're entering that specific number rather than another number printed elsewhere on the offer.

Make Sure Your Last Name Matches

The Citi invitation page also asks for your Last Name. Enter it exactly as it appears on the invitation. If the name on the offer doesn't match what you're entering, Citi may not be able to retrieve the offer.

Check the Offer Expiration Date

Look at your mailing for an expiration date or other indication of how long the offer is valid. If the offer has expired, the invitation code may no longer retrieve the offer even when the code and last name are entered correctly.

Use the Website Shown on Your Offer

Citi invitation mailings can direct you to a specific website for redeeming the offer. If your mailing includes a QR code, you can use that to reach the appropriate page. Otherwise, type the web address printed on the offer directly into your browser.

Using a general Citi page instead of the specific address provided with your invitation may not take you to the page where the invitation code can be entered.

Still Can't Get the Code to Work?

If you've checked the invitation code, entered your last name correctly, confirmed that the offer hasn't expired, and are using the website provided with the mailing, the invitation may simply no longer be available through that offer.

You can also try applying directly for the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi without using the invitation code. If you prefer to apply directly, you can use the link below to view the available offer.

Need Help With Your Invitation?

If your Citi mailing provides a telephone number for the offer, you can also contact Citi using that number and ask about the invitation code. Keep the mailing nearby so you have the code and other offer information available.

If the code is working, you can return to our guide explaining how to use your Citi Costco Card invitation code.

FICO® Credit Scores

A FICO® Score is a proprietary credit score created by the Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO). About 90% of top U.S. lenders use it to make lending decisions.

FICO® Score Ranges:

  • Exceptional: 800–850
  • Very Good: 740–799
  • Good: 670–739
  • Fair: 580–669
  • Poor: 300–579

FICO categorizes scores as Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, and Exceptional.

What is a Credit Score?

A credit score is a three-digit number (300–850) predicting your creditworthiness. Lenders use it to evaluate risk and determine rates and terms for credit.

Why it matters: A higher score can help you qualify for loans and lower interest rates. A lower score can lead to higher borrowing costs or application denials.

FICO® Credit Score Facts

Key Characteristics:
  • Three-Digit Number: Summarizes your credit risk.
  • Range: 300–850; higher scores = lower risk.
  • Data Source: Uses your credit reports from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.
  • Industry Standard: Lenders rely on FICO for mortgages, auto loans, and credit cards.

Note: Credit scores reflect your creditworthiness but do not guarantee approval for any credit product.
